Gold

A veteran whisky lover. Who felt he must go and pay homage to nine or so distilleries in Islay...and guess what, this is exactly what we did, with good friends, in April 2012. Now with a taste for distilleries I hope to visit Gavle and Hven, in Sweden, later in 2012 (for Mackmyra and Urania, Spirit of Hven respectively).

Location: London

Favourite whisky(s): Laphroaig 25 year old cask strength, and a few others...

Light, floral, fruity, delicate, aetherial, fey. These are all words one could and might use to describe this one. And we don't often describe Swedes that way, do we! And not remotely what I was expecting… read more

Well, where to start with this "oddity" ? Heathrow Terminal 5 to be precise, where I sit now, in First Class splendour, the sumptuousness of the surroundings blending with the opulence of the whisky. Its… read more

Oh yes indeed. Ardbeg is of course a must for all of us phenolophiles / peatmaniacs. Oh how I would like to go to Islay and pay homage (and money) to sample from the springs of eternal amnesia...but I … read more
