Has anyone here ever heard of Limeburner whisky? It's from Western Australia. My wife and I are thinking of heading down there in a couple months to visit the distillery and were curious if anyone here has ever sampled them. We're quite looking forward to it and will post notes once done!

My local Vintage Cellars had Limeburners once upon a time (at least a year ago, and more) but only in the last couple of months I had finally attempted to buy some, but alas they're all out and will no longer stock them - or ANY Aussie single malt, apparently. I guess I could buy direct from the distillery. The early batch(es) that had good reviews are probably no longer obtainable, but I'm sure they'll have something right now that's very decent and available either at the distillery or at selected outlets (no idea where - only ever saw them at Vintage Cellars). Look forward to your notes!

I've got a bottle which a friend picked up for me in Sydney, but haven't gotten around to opening it yet (get a few bottles in the queue at the moment...).

Sounds like they've picked up a couple of IWSC awards though.

They number their releases and are up to M83 by the look of it; Dave & Martine gave some promising sounding notes for M40 in Whisky Mag:

They appear to age in bourbon and finish in Australian port or sherry casks, but I must confess I haven't a clue what type of wood they're made of! They appear to release at either 61% or 43% abv generally, but based on the limited info available it isn't clear why.

Would be very interested to hear your findings!
